Operating modes
How it works
Every modern vehicle uses a CAN-bus network — a high-speed digital communication system that links the engine control unit, instrument cluster, gearbox, ABS, and dozens of other modules. Distance data travels across this network continuously, and the instrument cluster reads those signals to update the odometer.
The Audi A4 / S4 / RS4 Mileage Blocker installs in-line on the specific CAN-bus line that carries distance pulses toward the instrument cluster. It intercepts those signals at the wiring level — before they reach the cluster — and, depending on the selected operating mode, suppresses them entirely or reduces them to a set percentage. The device sits between modules on the same bus segment, so the modified signal is what every downstream module on that segment receives. No separate mileage record is maintained elsewhere that could contradict what the cluster shows.
The device uses vehicle-specific, original-type connectors and fits entirely within the existing wiring loom. No wires are cut, no soldering is required, and no coding or software changes are made to the vehicle. Removing the device restores the vehicle to its exact factory state. Mileage that was not recorded while the device was active is not automatically added back to the odometer upon removal.
Because the device operates at the physical wiring layer — not through the OBD-II port or any software interface — its presence cannot be detected by standard diagnostic equipment. It leaves no trace in the vehicle's fault memory and does not trigger any warning lights. The device retains the last selected mode between ignition cycles, so it does not need to be reactivated each time the vehicle is started.

The standard cable supplied with the device is sized to reach the installation point directly. The extended harness option adds approximately 45 cm of additional cabling, allowing you to route the module away from the installation point to a more accessible location.
This is particularly useful if you want to tuck the module behind a trim panel that can be removed without tools — for example, a kick panel, lower dashboard cover, or boot side trim. Once routed, the module sits in an easily accessible space while the wiring connection remains at the original installation point.
The quick-removal feature means the module can be disconnected and removed in seconds without disturbing the original wiring. This is useful for track days, MOT inspections, or any situation where you want the device temporarily out of the vehicle. Reconnecting is equally straightforward — plug it back in and the device resumes from its last selected mode.
